FPC Apple Pies are so 'A PEELING'!
It is that time of the year again! Time to start our tradition of baking apple pies. For those of you who are newer to FPC, this is a long-standing tradition and fundraiser for FPC. For several weeks in the fall we all gather to make dough, pick and peel apples, bake pies and sell them to the community. Everyone pitches in - young and old, newer members and old-timers alike. Contributing in some way making Apple Pies is such a rewarding experience. It's also a great way to get to know your fellow FPCers.
For apple pie season 2009, you can volunteer individually or get a group together to:
PICK APPLES: Wednesday or Thursday afternoons starting this week:
9/10, 9/17, 9/24, 10/01. We need several people to pick up dropped
apples at Shelburne Farms. Timing is flexible as long as the apples
are delivered to the vestry by 6:00pm Thursday evening.
PEEL APPLES: Thursday evenings 9/10, 9/17, 9/24, 10/01 from
6:30-9:00pm in the vestry. Each week we need people to help peel
apples and help with set up and clean up. The more- the merrier.
BAKE PIES: Friday mornings 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/02 anytime between
6:30am and 1:00pm. We are seeking new bakers - no experience required!
Consider helping out after the kids get off to school in the
morning.
BAG PIES: We're set this Friday 9/11 but still need 2-3 volunteers
for Friday 9/18, 9/25, and 10/02 at 7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall to
bag the pies and attach labels once the pies are cooled.
SELL PIES: Saturdays & Sundays 9/12-13, 9/19-20, 9/26-7 from
10:00am-1:00pm. We will also be selling pies at the FPC fair on 10/3
in three shifts from 10-3. Contact Ruth Lull at rlull924 [at] aol [dot] com if
you'd like to help with selling.
MAKE CRUST: And of course the dough making starts again next Tuesday
evening, 9/15, 9/22, and 9/29.
Come join the fun and celebrate the fall season with FPC apple pies!
