Exploring White Privilege

Date and Time:
Tuesday, March 24th, 2015 - 7:00PM to 9:00PM
Following up on our recent FPC sermon, discussion, and vigil on the subject of Racism in America, the Social Justice Committee is offering a weekly spring program on White Privilege. This builds on a program that was conducted at FPC a number of years ago AND we are fortunate that Ken Wagner will lead the eight week program.

This program will: Explore our own racial identity and Whiteness; introduce many things you have never thought of about being black and being marginalized; utilize films and discussions to dig into the confusion between racism and bigotry. Racism is a white problem and there are things we can do as individuals.

Ken Wagner, now with the Northborough UU Church, was formerly President both here at FPC and also of the Clara Barton District.  He has studied this subject extensively and is imbedded in nationwide antiracism efforts. He has facilitated programs similar to this one at many UU congregations throughout the state.  Ken is deeply committed to his own spiritual journey and to see our culture and institutions through the prism of race and privilege.  He hopes to engage us not only on the larger issue, but to join with us to explore our own personal and spiritual development as we seek justice in our everyday lives.

This program kicks off on Tuesday March 17th from 7PM-9PM and will recur on subsequent Tuesdays for eight weeks.
